Texture, metal and glass: the door as a design element

17 February 2026
news

People increasingly experience a door's surface with their hands, not just their eyes. Texture, relief and soft matte finishes make a door feel "alive" and add coziness to the interior — especially in minimalist spaces with little decor.

Mixing materials and art details.

The second notable trend is combining different materials in one leaf. The door becomes a canvas for design:

  • leaf + metal — aluminum moldings, slim frames and edging add graphics and emphasize a contemporary character;

  • leaf + glass — reeded or engraved — these combinations make the door lighter and turn it into a noticeable interior element;

  • relief and gradient milling — the door becomes decor that sets the mood of the room.

Today an interior door is a design tool, not just a function. Texture, a combination of materials and well-thought-out details help make an interior individual.
